Buyer safety

Buy with confidence, not pressure

A listing, seller badge or inspection can reduce uncertainty, but you should still verify the person, vehicle, documents and payment before completing a deal.

Before you meet

  • Compare the asking price with similar vehicles and question unusually low offers.
  • Keep early conversations on the platform where possible, and never share passwords, one-time codes, card PINs or full identity documents with a seller.
  • Arrange to meet in daylight at a public place. Tell someone you trust where you are going, and take another person with you when possible.
  • Do not pay a deposit merely to view a vehicle or to “reserve” an unseen vehicle.

Check the vehicle and documents

  • Match the chassis, engine and registration details on the vehicle with the original documents. Do not rely on photographs or photocopies alone.
  • Confirm ownership and transfer requirements with the relevant Excise and Taxation authority before handing over money.
  • Inspect the vehicle in good light and take a proper test drive with the owner's permission. For a higher-value purchase, use an independent inspection.
  • Ask about accident history, outstanding finance, tax, token and any modifications that may affect registration, insurance or safety.

You can book an inspection through Apna Wheels, but an inspection is not a guarantee of ownership or a substitute for document verification.

Pay and transfer safely

  • Agree the final price, included items and transfer responsibilities in writing before payment.
  • Use a traceable payment method in the verified owner's name. Check the recipient carefully before confirming a transfer.
  • Complete the official ownership transfer promptly and keep signed receipts and copies of the transaction record.
  • Stop if anyone creates urgency, changes the payment account, refuses document checks or asks you to conceal part of the transaction.

If something feels wrong

Do not continue the transaction. Preserve messages, listing links, payment details and other evidence. Report the listing through its report control and use the published channel on our contact page. For suspected theft, fraud or immediate danger, contact the appropriate local authority.
