How to create a useful vehicle listing

Help buyers understand your vehicle with accurate details, clear photographs and an honest description of its condition.

Start with accurate details

Choose the actual make, model, variant and model year. Check the mileage displayed on the vehicle and describe any known issue with that reading. Do not guess a variant from badges or appearance alone. A precise listing helps buyers compare similar vehicles and avoids wasted enquiries.

State the asking price clearly. If it is negotiable, say so without replacing the price with a misleading token amount. Mention relevant service history, ownership information you can substantiate and modifications that affect the vehicle. Never invent a verification or inspection status.

Photograph the vehicle in daylight

Clean the vehicle and photograph it in an uncluttered, safe location. Include the front, rear, both sides, cabin, dashboard and other relevant areas. Hold the camera level and leave enough space around the car to show its shape. Buyers need consistent, sharp images rather than dramatic filters.

Include close-ups of damage or wear you describe. Use photographs of your own vehicle, not a manufacturer’s image or another seller’s listing. Avoid editing out defects. Keep people, private documents, house numbers and other unnecessary personal information out of the frame.

Write for the buyer’s questions

Use a short description with complete sentences. Explain what the car is, how it has been used, what has been maintained and which issues a buyer should check. Describe a repair as a repair rather than using vague claims such as ‘perfect’ or ‘untouched’ unless you can support them.

Distinguish what you know from what you were told. If you do not have a service receipt or independent report, do not present the work as verified. Clear disclosure lets a buyer plan a viewing and ask focused questions instead of discovering important facts on arrival.

Manage enquiries safely

Use the platform’s contact tools and agree on a safe meeting place. Do not share account passwords or one-time codes with someone claiming to arrange a sale. Treat a payment screenshot as a claim that needs confirmation through your own bank or payment provider.

Keep the listing current: correct errors, update the asking price when it changes and mark the vehicle sold when the sale is complete. Do not leave a sold car available to collect enquiries. Keep records of agreed terms and use the relevant authority’s process for ownership transfer.
